Newly Qualified Teacher (NQT) Development Programme – Southampton
(The 2020 course includes 4 additional days catch-up training due to Covid-19 school closures)
Many NQTs entering the profession in September 2020 will be doing so having missed a considerable proportion of their school-based experience due to the school closures brought about by the Covid 19 pandemic. More than ever, NQTs will need a robust, comprehensive and supportive development programme to help ensure they are fully prepared to meet the demands placed upon them in the classroom and address any shortcomings in their training.
In light of this, we have developed a programme that provides NQTs with the tutoring, mentoring and support they will need to be effective classroom practitioners despite the upset to their initial training.
We have also taken into consideration the new Core Content for Initial Teacher Education and the requirements of the Early Career Framework for teachers, due to become statutory in 2021, and the expectations of the new Ofsted Framework.
In short, our programme hopes to bring all our NQTs up to speed with the most up to date thinking on effective teaching and learning and prepare them for a long, worthwhile and successful career.
The programme also offers support and development for school mentors so that they can be fully prepared to support NQTs that might not be as well developed as they have in previous years.
