Recently Qualified Teacher (RQT) Development – Southampton
In September 2021, schools will be required to offer a further 2 years of support to staff who successfully complete their NQT Induction Year. We are providing schools with an opportunity to trial the Early Career Framework in 2020-21, which will become statutory next year.
It is widely held that it takes at least 3 years for most teachers to secure the knowledge and skills to be a confident, effective teacher. Although not compulsory this year, the methodology of developing our newest teachers at this early stage means that we are more likely to retain them, as well as enable them to be more effective more quickly.
Our programme supports teachers in their second or third year of teaching to reflect on the expectations of the Early Career Framework and helps to set goals for continuous development and improvement. Alongside this, we offer the training they will need at this point in their career to be secure in their practice and implementation of these expectations and to set them up to be expert teachers and future leaders in education.
The programme consists of 6 full days of training across the year with chances to apply what they have learned back in schools between each session.
